A safe place to learn, make, and belong
Founded by Marie Brown, Stitch Craft N Knit creates a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable space where people can come together, learn new skills, build confidence, and feel empowered through creativity and shared experiences. Alongside her is Marcia Brown, an Intermediate Knitter with endless skills, including reading charts and patterns, as well as creating intricate cable and lace designs.
The group encourages people to step out of isolation and into community life, reconnect with others, meet new people, and rediscover the joy of learning and creating together. Remaining a teaching group is central to the mission, ensuring that members continue to grow, support one another, and develop new skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Crochet baskets
The group created crochet baskets using seven strands of DK yarns. The results are beautiful, with each person bringing their own colour scheme to the finished project.

Place of visit
Stitch Craft N Knit is also about enjoying shared experiences beyond the weekly sessions, giving members opportunities to connect, explore, and be inspired together.
Southwark Cathedral
Some of the group members visited Southwark Cathedral for the Big Knit Day, sharing time together, seeing creativity in a wider community setting, and enjoying a special day out.
Bernie Grant Centre
The group visited the Bernie Grant Centre to see an exhibition of tapestry in Black art, exploring cultural history, textile artwork, and creative storytelling together.
The Knight Garden Centre
The group visited The Knight Garden Centre and then enjoyed afternoon tea together to celebrate finishing their crochet baskets.
